She has also produced the television series The Walking Dead (2010–present). Hurd was born on October 25, 1955 in Los Angeles, California. She graduated from Stanford University with a degree in economics and communications. Hurd began her career in the entertainment industry in the late 1970s, working as an assistant to Roger Corman, a producer of low-budget films. She then worked as a story editor for New World Pictures, where she worked on films such as The Terminator (1984).
